Latest Numbers. In Mercer Island, there have been 1,306 positive cases reported as of December 29. DOH reported a total of 737,652 confirmed cases as of December 27. There have been 9,822 COVID-19 deaths in Washington. For the latest city and county data, click here.

CDC Updates and Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period. On December 27, the CDC updated its isolation and quarantine guidance, reducing recommended isolation from 10 days to 5 days for asymptomatic people and a 5-day quarantine period for people exposed to COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough report. Between January 17, 2021 – December 11, DOH officials have identified 86,237 vaccine breakthrough cases in the state. Of the cases that have data available (about half), 87% reported symptoms, 8% were hospitalized, and 851 people died. Read the latest report.
