The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a rolling 6-year plan updated annually with a focus on maintaining the existing transportation network and improving it in a thoughtful, safe manner working within the financial constraints. The TIP covers City roadway, pedestrian, bicycle and other transportation projects.

Note: The City has an existing plan that identifies various future upgrades in pedestrian and bicycle facilities, many of which have been adopted into the TIP.

Each year, public comment and staff input are gathered to inform new proposed additions to the TIP; the City Council makes the final decision on each project's priority.

If all the projects are completed on the current TIP, there will not be a safe N-S Ped/Bike Route nor will all the shoulders on East and West Mercer be completed. The N-S route deserves priority as it would serve students (traveling to IMS, Island Park, MIHS and Lake Ridge), commuters to the TC and light rail. All of these would reduce the need for expensive parking, increase health, and reduce our carbon emissions. On the plus side, at least an engineering study for the missing link in the N-S route will be completed, but the important thing will be to fund the implementation.
