Mercer Island is ILLUMINATED!
The overwhelming generosity from the Mercer Island Community is on display in Town Center this holiday season!
Community donations of over $22K, combined with a Mercer Island Community Fund donation drive and City of Mercer Island staff, have led to a successful Illuminate MI campaign.
Illuminate MI is a community inspired and supported holiday light installation on Mercer Island. Coordinated by City staff, Illuminate MI’s goal was to illuminate an area of Town Center through Mercerdale Park. The vision and focus of this project were to support local businesses and spread holiday cheer to a resilient Mercer Island Community during a year like no other. Areas illuminated include:
- Mercerdale Pergola
- Mercerdale Giant Sequoia Tree
- Mercerdale Hedges
- Pedestrian Median on 27th Ave SE
- Over 30 trees down 78th Ave SE

Private donors and organizational sponsors were critical to funding this project. The response from the Community has been overwhelmingly appreciative of the generosity of those who helped to fund and coordinate Illuminate MI.
