Roanoke Park Playground Now Open!

Good news! Roanoke Park Playground is now open for play! Here are a few things to know as you visit the renovated park this fall.
New Grass Establishment
As part of this playground renovation, R&R Construction installed compost, topsoil, and hydroseed to restore the lawn areas that were disturbed during construction. New grass needs a few weeks to establish, so R&R installed temporary orange fencing to protect the lawn while it grows. Until the Parks team removes the orange fencing, please stay in the playground and concrete areas only.
Getting to the Playground
There are two available parking stalls at this neighborhood playground - 1 paved ADA stall and 1 gravel general stall. Parking is also available nearby at Aubrey Davis Park Lids A (72nd Ave SE) and C (West Mercery Way). If you live near Roanoke Park, consider walking or biking to the playground instead of driving given the limited parking.
Upcoming Work by City Crews
Over the next few months, City staff will complete finishing touches at the site, including:
- Striping/marking the new ADA parking stall and installing a wheel stop;
- Planting trees around the picnic area to provide shade and shrubs and other vegetation in the new conveyance swale to support stormwater drainage;
- Installing new park signage and playground rules (temporary rules signage is currently installed at the site); and
- Connecting the fence from 70th Ave SE to West Mercer Way to enclose the park lawn.
Updates on this remaining work will be shared on Let's Talk as tasks are completed.
Reporting Issues at the Park
This Let's Talk page will stay active until all work on this capital project has been completed. However, if you see an issue at the playground, consider submitting a service request through SeeClickFix. Details for reporting a need to the City are also posted on site.
Thank you to the community for your support of this project. Have fun and play safe at Roanoke Park!
