Update: Proposed Thrift Shop and Recycling Center Renovation Project Ended

At the February 2nd City Council Meeting during regular business, the Council unanimously voted to end the proposed Thrift Shop and Recycling Center renovation project. Our sincere thanks to all the residents who provided public comment both live at the Council meeting, here through the public forum, and by reaching out to Councilmembers.

Moving forward, the City Manager will work with staff to begin a Thrift Shop Restart Plan which will continue the short-term solutions currently in place to collect donations during the pandemic and work towards a longer-term solution. For future updates and current information on the Mercer Island Thrift Shop, operations, volunteering, and donations, please visit the Thrift Shop page of the City's website.
