First Hill Park is a neighborhood park located at SE 32nd Street and 72nd Avenue SE. The playground includes a treehouse play structure and a slide that takes advantage of the site's elevation change. Design improvements will include replacing the playground equipment, resurfacing the sports court, and evaluating opportunities to improve access. The City has retained the Berger Partnership, a leading landscape architecture and urban design firm, to lead design and community engagement for early playground replacements and aims to construct the First Hill playground improvements in 2025.

    Provide Input for the Site Plan Concept

    The proposed site plan concept for the First Hill Park Playground Replacement is now available for review! This brief survey provides another opportunity to share input about the proposed play equipment and site plan. Read this post for more details, then share your feedback on different elements proposed in the design through this survey.


    Comments will be collected through Monday, July 8, and will be used to finalize the equipment selection and site design.

    First Hill Park Playground Equipment Survey

    Planning work continues to replace aging playground equipment at City of Mercer Island parks, and you’re invited to get involved! 


    In 2022, Mercer Island voters approved a 16-year parks levy that continued funding for parks operations and maintenance in addition to funding playground replacements and Pioneer Park forest management.   


    Construction of the newly redesigned play area at Roanoke Park begins later this year. Now it’s time to turn attention to the second playground planned for replacement – First Hill Park. Share your thoughts about playground equipment for First Hill by taking this brief survey!


    The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete, and households with young people are encouraged to take the survey together.  


    Survey results and a refined First Hill Park playground concept will be shared online for your feedback on April 30, 2024. Learn more and follow along in the process on Let’s Talk!
